Therapy for identity, relationships, and transitions
Shelden Banks, MSW, MBA, provides affirming therapy for clients seeking clarity in relationships, identity, and major life transitions. She specializes in helping people unpack social narratives that no longer serve them, offering a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and grounded.
What you can expect in our work together
Shelden’s style is a little nerdy, a little humorous, and deeply rooted in community care. While they especially enjoy working with queer, non-monogamous, and kink communities, Shelden welcomes clients from all backgrounds who want to explore identity and connection. Their approach is holistic, considering mind, body, and environment, while also weaving in Narrative Therapy and Geek Therapy to make sessions engaging and insightful.
How I support healing
Drawing from a background in social work, Shelden integrates clinical expertise with a systems-level awareness of how environment and social context shape mental health. Their work focuses on developing strategies for resilience, insight, and self-acceptance. In addition to therapy, Shelden’s practice is in-network with BCBS and Alliant Healthcare, provides superbills for out-of-network coverage, and offers sliding scale options to make therapy accessible.
A little about me
Outside of the therapy room, Shelden is active in community organizing and advocacy for gender, sexual, and relational minorities. They believe that supporting clients holistically means not only providing one-on-one care, but also addressing the systemic barriers that impact well-being.
