Empowered and affirming care for adults
Liza McFarland (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider in Tennessee. She specializes in helping adults navigate identity and self-esteem, ADHD and impulsivity, and self-destructive behaviors such as binge eating, substance use, and self-harm. Her work is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, sex-positive, kink-allied, poly-affirming, and LGBTQIA+ friendly.
What you can expect in our work together
Liza’s practice, Empowered Counseling, is grounded in feminist and positive psychology. That means she focuses on individuality and strengths while centering each client’s present needs and values. Therapy with Liza is largely person-centered and may incorporate ACT, CBT, DBT, Gestalt, and Existential approaches depending on your goals.
How I support healing
Liza offers individual therapy that creates space to explore identity, cope with challenges, and build resilience, as well as couples therapy to strengthen communication and relationships. She provides telehealth sessions across Tennessee and limited in-person sessions in Gray, TN.
A little about me
Outside of therapy, Liza created the Empowered and Struggling blog as a way to share resources and spark conversations about living authentically and unapologetically. She believes therapy is a space to heal, grow, and reconnect with your values—and feels honored to walk that journey with her clients.
