QueerPsych Gives Back

Our Commitment to Social Responsibility

At QueerPsych, our commitment to social responsibility runs deep. We are proud to support the Alana Faith Chen Foundation, an organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals. Their mission is to ensure that everyone has access to the mental health resources and care they rightfully deserve. For every user who signs up with us, QueerPsych will contribute $1 to this foundation, helping to ensure that everyone has access to the mental health resources and care they deserve.

Background of the Alana Faith Chen Foundation

On December 8th, 2019, Alana Faith Chen tragically lost her life to suicide at the young age of 24. Her heartbreaking story highlights the challenges and discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly in the context of conversion therapy and sexual oppression. Alana’s story served as a catalyst for change, prompting the creation of the Alana Faith Chen Foundation. AFCF emerged with a fierce determination to prevent others from enduring the same fate. The foundation’s mission is to provide crucial financial support to LGBTQ+
individuals at risk of suicide, ensuring they have access to the mental health treatment and therapy necessary for their well-being.

The Birth of QueerPsych

QueerPsych was born from the nurturing embrace of the Alana Faith Chen Foundation, co-founded by Tara Shapiro, Alana’s cousin. Recognizing the vital role of mental health care and support in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals, QueerPsych was established to further this mission. Our primary focus is to empower LGBTQIA+ mental health professionals and individuals alike.
