Background of the Alana Faith Chen Foundation

On December 8th, 2019, Alana Faith Chen tragically lost her life to suicide at the young age of 24. Her heartbreaking story highlights the challenges and discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly in the context of conversion therapy and sexual oppression. Alana’s story served as a catalyst for change, prompting the creation of the Alana Faith Chen Foundation. AFCF emerged with a fierce determination to prevent others from enduring the same fate. The foundation’s mission is to provide crucial financial support to LGBTQ+ individuals at risk of suicide, ensuring they have access to the mental health treatment and therapy necessary for their well-being.

You can also listen to the ‘Dear Alana’ podcast, which you can find at www.dearalana.com. This podcast offers a platform for open and honest conversations about LGBTQ+ mental health, sharing stories of resilience and hope in honor of Alana Faith Chen’s memory.
